Bangkok Airways began operations in 1968 under the name ‘Sahakol Air’, becoming Thailand’s first private airline.

It officially began operations with regular domestic flights in 1986, cementing itself as the country’s first private airline for scheduled air transport.

Bangkok Airways initially offered flights from Bangkok to Krabi, Korat and Surin.

Today, the airline has the necessary permits to operate on 20 major routes, covering almost all the major tourist destinations in Thailand.
