• Aeronaves de México was founded in 1934 by Mr. Antonio Díaz Lombardo.

• In 1988 it was renamed Aerovías de México S.A. de C.V., and with its 35 airplanes and 3,500 employees, started operations under the name Aeroméxico.

• In 1991 startup of Aerolitoral operations, as the Aeroméxico regional carrier

• In 2000, it became part of International Air Transportation Corporation, CINTRA.

• In 2007 the Aeroméxico consortium is purchased by Grupo Banamex and 14 shareholders and becomes Grupo Aeroméxico

• In 2007 Aerolitoral changes its name to Aeroméxico Connect, with home base at General Mariano Escobedo International Airport in Monterrey.

• In July 2010 orders 10 Boeing 787 Dreamliner, considered the most modern plane in the world

• On October 12th, 2010 it completed its first flight using biofuel between Mexico City and San José, Costa Rica.

• In August 2011 it completed the first transcontinental flight using biofuel between Mexico City and Madrid.

• In September 2011, it began its weekly flight program between Mexico City and San José, Costa Rica using bio-based jet fuel. At the same time, the on board services were designed to include recyclable, biodegradable and oxo-biodegradable materials.

• In 2012 Aeroméxico starts trading on the Mexican stock exchange

• Today it has more than 13,000 employees around the world, operates over 600 daily flights to 84 destinations in three continents, a fleet with more than 120 aircraft only 8 years of age on average, among which 9 Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

• At the first edition of the Food & Travel Awards in 2014, the readers of Food and Travel Magazine - one of the most respected publications in the travel industry – named Aeroméxico the “Best Mexican Airline”.

• Award for the “Best In-flight Technology” from Latin Trade magazine for the carrier’s services offered on board the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

• Ranked one of the best 25 brands in Latin America for its stability and financial health, by global brand consultancy firm Interbrand. Aeroméxico was ranked 16th among all participating companies, coming in above leading consumer companies in Mexico.

• Aeromexico was included in the list published by the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) that recognizes corporate social responsibility. The airline has thus become the first carrier in Mexico to receive this merit.

• Aeromexico achieved for fifth year in a row the Socially Responsible Company award given by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy.
• Aeromexico offers code share flights with its SkyTeam airline partners:
Air Europa, Air France, Alitalia, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM and Korean Air.

• In 2012 Delta Air Lines invested US $65 million in Grupo Aeromexico, acquiring a 4.17% stake in the airline. The extensive route network served by both carriers allows passengers travelling for business or leisure between the United States, Mexico and Latin America to enjoy a more convenient and simple travel experience. Together we serve over 400 destinations worldwide.
